Garapa is used for the customer who would like a lighter color deck.   ABSWood carries decking, 4x4 posts, and handrails in Garapa.  Garapa Decking can be used alone or with Ipe or other complementary woods.

Garapa Decking also known as Brazilian Oak, Apuleia Leiocarpa, Grapia, Amarealao, Marotoa, Muiratua, Muirajuba.  Garapa deck boards are one of the finest quality hardwoods available that features a fine-grained timber that is yellow, often streaked with brown, becoming lustrous golden-brown to russet on exposure to the sun. Garapa Decking is an exotic hardwood that is naturally resistant to rot, decay and insect attack. Garapa Decking offers a 25+ year lifespan without preservatives! Our Garapa decking is responsibly harvested from managed forest to provide a truly renewable resource. Unlike composite, Garapa is naturally biodegradable and does not clog landfills. Garapa Decking Characteristics

Garapa (Brazilian Oak) is honey-yellow with a slight ribbon aspect that becomes light brown with age. The grain is irregular and interlocked and has a medium texture. 

Garapa Decking Color

Medium Brown - can be darkened with a tinted finisher (see below)
As with all hardwood, there will be variations in color and grain which add to the individual character

Janka hardness: 2280 lb – harder than Hard Maple (Janka 1450) and Oak (Janka 1360)

Garapa Decking Durability

Garapa is moderately durable to termites and fungus. Garapa hardness provides natural scratch resistance making Garapa an perfect wood for exterior decking.

Garapa Decking Preservation

None Necessary! It will become light brown with age. A finisher with UV blocking will retain the beautiful Honey color.
