Penetrating Water-Borne Natural Wood Finish

Flood® Wood Cleaner Premium Wood Cleaner and Brightener

Takes the gray out of weathered wood

CWF® Hardwoods Clear Wood Finish penetrates and bonds to exterior wood providing a flexible, long lasting rich matte finish, even on tough exotic hardwoods such as Ipe, Pau Lope®, Ironwood and Mahogany. CWF® Hardwoods saturates, seals and stabilizes wood to minimize cracking, warping and other damage caused by moisture and sun. The unique formula, combined with premium U.V.-absorbing transoxide pigments, provides a finish that accentuates the beautiful color of your wood for years to come.

Available In
• CWF® Hardwoods Clear Wood Finish is tintable to a wide range of wood colors. A sample brush out on the surface to be coated is recommended to determine the actual color result. For color uniformity, intermix in one container all products to be used on an entire section.

Where To Use
• All new and weathered exterior woods including T1-11, Cedar, Redwood and Pressure-Treated Wood
• New and weathered exotic hardwoods such as, Ipe, Pau Lope®, Ironwood, Mahogany and Teak
• Horizontal and vertical surfaces such as decks, siding, fences and furniture

Surface Preparation
• All surfaces to be coated must be free of all dirt, grease, grime, mildew and previous coatings.
• Apply to bare wood surfaces or over a previous weathered application of CWF® Hardwoods. Remove previous stain, varnish or sealers with Flood® Cleaner Premium Wood Cleaner and Brightener  per label directions.
• Remove mildew with a solution of 4 ounces of non-ammoniated detergent (TSP), 1 quart of outdoor bleach and 3 quarts of fresh water. Allow this solution to remain on
the surface for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
• After cleaning allow the wood to dry 2 days or until it has reached a moisture content of 20% or less before finishing.

Preparation for New Wood
• New wood surfaces have a hard shiny surface called mill glaze that prevents maximum penetration and bonding of a finish. To properly prepare the surface for application, treat with a solution of Flood® Wood Stripper diluted according to label instructions. An alternative is to sand the surface with 80 grit sandpaper, using a hand or pole sander. Clean off all loose wood particles. Test wood for absorbency by sprinkling water on the surface. If water is absorbed rapidly, the surface is ready for finishing.

Application
• Cover everything you do not wish to coat, including plants and shrubs.
• Apply between 50° and 90° F. Do not apply in hot sunlight.
• Do not apply if cold, wet weather is expected within 24 hours.
• Do not thin - use as is.
• Apply with one or combination of the following - Brush: High quality synthetic stain brush, Roller: Synthetic woven cover 3/8-3/4 inch,
Spray: Air-Less Sprayer .011 - .015 fluid tip/ 700-800 psi or less, or garden sprayer.
• Stir thoroughly before and periodically during application.
• Apply one coat of CWF® Hardwoods.
• Apply a second coat as soon as the wet look dulls (30-60 minutes) or anytime thereafter.
• After sprayer or roller application, backbrush to improve penetration
and uniformity of coverage.
• Wipe up or brush out any puddles to avoid shiny areas, (within 30 minutes).

Dry Time
• 24 hours

Coverage
• Rough Surfaces 100 - 150 sq. ft.
• Smooth Surfaces 200 - 350 sq. ft.

Clean Up
• Clean up soap and water.

Maintenance
• Surfaces with harsh exposure to sun, weather or foot traffic could show wear more quickly than other surfaces. In addition, due to the dense cell structure of exotic hardwoods, these surfaces may also wear more quickly. If this happens, a quick and simple cleaning and recoat is necessary.

Even brand-new wood can quickly become gray and dirty from exposure to sun, dirt and rain. Unlike bleach-based deck cleaners, the gentle ingredients in Flood® Wood Cleaner remove surface and ground-in dirt without damaging the sensitive fibers or the wood's natural color.

Where To Use
• Ideal for pressure-treated wood, cedar and redwood.
• Use on decks, siding, fences, and other exterior woods.

Preparation
• Flood® Wood Cleaner is mild and won’t harm plants or shrubbery.
• Carefully sweep all debris off deck surface.
• Wet surface with a garden hose.
• Mix one part Flood® Wood Cleaner to four parts water.
• Do not mix with chlorine bleach or other household cleaning products. Doing so can result in release of highly toxic gases.
• Mix using only plastic containers in well ventilated areas.

Application
• Apply the cleaning solution thoroughly using a stiff bristle brush or a roller. If you are hand brushing your deck, remember to wear chemical-resistant gloves.
• Do not allow the deck to dry during the cleaning process.
• Allow the cleaning solution to work for 20-30 minutes.
• Rinse off the remaining solution thoroughly with clean water.

Dry Time
• Allow wood to dry at least two days before applying a finish.

Clean Up
• Clean tools with soap and water.
