All wood is a product of nature. Wood is or
was a living growing thing and as such has its own personality and
characteristics such as varying grain patterns and colors. Small
imperfections such as milling artifacts or quilting that can be
easily sanded out will not be considered a defective product.
The skilled contractor, woodworker and DIYer know that there are
many ways to use the unique properties of wood to enhance any
project. Usually the simple solutions are the best.
If one board face is not to your liking turn it over. An
orbital sander with 80 or 100 grit paper can remove planer blade
shatter (light marks that are perpendicular to the grain on all
milled wood) or other marks. This is also how you can
renew your decking if it is ever damaged. |
